Love in Motion

Yesterday I was reminded that this world has SO many hurting people.  I was reminded that tragedy affects us all and most of all, it affects the heart of God.

Yesterday I went to 'Our Love in Motion,' a benefit concert for the people of Haiti.  It was not the music or the words that impacted me, but rather the laughter and the clapping.  I know it sounds a bit strange, but that's because to me, the laughter and clapping felt strange.

A man, who had just come back from Haiti spoke, and not gently either.  He called us to a higher standard of Christianity.  Instead of praying for what we cannot see why don't we give what we have and then pray for what we do see?  He used the example of giving our money and THEN praying for a mortgage or our next paycheck.  This comment got a few chuckles from the audience, but he wasn't telling a joke.  He was serious.

I was challenged to think about what it means to be a Christian.  Do I love the poor and give without expecting return?  Do I show love through my actions even when it's hard?  What is the higher standard that Christ has called me to and HOW do I live it out?

How do I put my love in motion?
