A Day In The Life...
Thursday, 10 December 2009 23:00
Welcome to a day in the life of. Here is a look into the deep and mysterious life of an intern off the road...
The faint sounds of a roommate doing her make-up wake up this unnamed intern. She mumbles something about the time and rolls over, not sure if she’s more excited about the day or her fleece sheets. She says, “Jambo,” to God, which is Swahili for hello, and prays for her brothers and sisters (in Christ) who are being persecuted. Then the usual getting up stuff, a quick bowl of porridge on the stove (with cinnamon and maple syrup) and off to the office.
Devotions and prayer for the girls across the continent begin her day. The rest of the day varies. Today she may write a blog, or maybe this unnamed intern will give a dynamic presentation about a book, maybe the “Sacred Romance”? (P.S. good book). Who knows? She only knows that if she keeps drinking as much water as she does the office will probably start charging her for toilet paper.
Soon the day ends and this intern packs up her purse, laptop bag, devotion bag and jacket and mittens and any leftover lunch as she heads back to the van. On arriving home she immediately plans her night: work-out with the girls, eat food (note* asparagus is dying), do devos and allow room for spontaneity. In reality she will probably end up dancing in the kitchen, eating cookie dough and praying with other interns before doing devotions and going to bed.
The asparagus did not get eaten and another work-out was skipped, but at the end of the day what really matters is that she walked with God, loved others and enjoyed the blessings of life! It was a good day indeed!
