For a girl who's NOT from the prairies there is a slight learning curve as I get used to my first winter in "Winter'peg." Yes, the teams are back at home base, for one more week before Christmas holidays when we'll all go home to visit our families! I would like to pause for a moment of silence in appreciation for all the PRAIRIE GIRLS out there who brave the snow year after year!!! (pause). My new heros.
What is the big deal, you ask? Well, here are some things I am learning:
-steering wheels are a lot colder in mornings
*note to self: wear mittens* *Secondary note to self: find mittens to wear*
-windshield fluid makes beautiful frost patterns
*note to self: remember to pay attention to traffic not crystal formations*
-keeping soup outside works until the scoop freezes in the mixture of potatoes, garlic and chicken broth and you cannot eat it
*not to self: do not lick the metal soup pot*
- “quick” chores outside still require boots
*note to self: next time you empty the liquid-filled shop vacuum in the backyard pond wear foot protection =)*
-sunshine has a way of making the colder days seems warm
*note to self: get out and enjoy!*
